Theodore Major was born, reared, and received his early education in East Feliciana Parish. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 from Southern University and A&M College. He continued his education with further studies in Accounting at Louisiana State
University in Baton Rouge. He also took job training courses in New Orleans, Nashville, Atlanta, and Dublin Ohio. Theodore Major has been a member of New Philadelphia Baptist Church for over 59 years. He served as chairman of the Deacon Board under the pastorate of his biological father, the Reverend Dr. D. E. Major.

 

In 2002, he accepted his calling to preach and teach God's word, becoming the second anointed Pastor of New Philadelphia Baptist Church in Slaughter, Louisiana, in 2006. Pastor Major holds Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, and in May 2012, he
received a Doctorate of Theology from River City Bible College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He is a graduate of the Realtors Institute of Louisiana. In 1981, he received his Real Estate License and in 1984 he was licensed as a Real Estate Broker and Insurance
Broker. He is an active member of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers and the National Association of Realtors.  Dr. Major served as Treasurer for the East Feliciana Ministers Conference for three years. In 2014, he was elected to serve as President of the East Feliciana Ministers. Conference, assuming office in January 2015. He served in this position until January 2019. Dr. Major served on the Office of Community Development Committee under Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. In 2018 he was appointed to serve on the
RDA Board of Directors under Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and in 2020 he was appointed to Governor John Bel Edward’s Real Estate Commission. He is the father of three children and is married to Shire' Major. His personal motto is "You can never learn too much; so learn all you can, while you can."   His favorite scripture is Psalm 23 and his favorite pastime is fishing.  Rev. Dr. Theodore Major is a busy man, but he is never too busy for "kingdom building". God has chosen him as one of His great messengers to spread the gospel.
